Research on East Village

First I wrote down the project and decided my target audience and creative direction, then I dived into the internet, bookstore and library for more beef.

I want to promote the Japanese culture in the area, and attract more NYC resident to experience the Japanese culture not just through restaurant, but everyday groceries, style, housewares or antiques.

Most books I found  are related to the history part of East Village, which is not my target aspect.

Here are the website I used for information.

I also visited East Village personally, and took some pictures for references.

sktch 2.0 [ iPhone, iPad, openFrameworks ]

Following is the original description about this app.

"Created and published by CreativeApplications.Net, SKTCH is a generative drawing application for the iPhone / iPod Touch and now iPad. Version 2.0 brings a whole new UI utilising Apple’s UIKit, for the iPhone – retina display support, two new presets, and finally after months of development we have released the iPad version.
iPad is where SKTCH really comes to life. The larger screen, new 3D mode and the new UI allows you to truly immerse yourself in your creations. During the development we have found that features such as file open/save do not really work particularly well with the iPhone, likewise the edit more allowing you to move points with tap and drag. There are some of many features we would like to implement in the iPad version, of course, if there is a demand. Thus, iPad version of SKTCH is published as a separate app rather than as a universal.
Please note that by purchasing SKTCH you directly help CAN, so we appreciate your support. Thank you.
For more information on SKTCH, see http://sktchapp.com or download the press pack.
In addition to SKTCH, RetroScreen has also received an update now supporting reina display on iPhone 4. RetroScreen source is now also available for download from github."

Personally rly like this project, but in the picture, is it rly good for us as a designer?
when a complicated 3d model animation can be render on iPad or even iPhone, how can a client tell wut from a professional work to the amateur one.

Mag+

I personally this is the very near future of magazine (for the magazine not focusing on paper and binding...etc)

The Infinite Adventure Machine

31.08.11 | ONGOING | London

TIAM is a proposal for a computer program which generates fairy-tale plots.
While fully automatic story generation remains an unsolved problem for computer science, this project explores the links between imagination and computation. Tales and myths; the core narratives of human culture, have been transmitted for generations through various technologies and media. What new forms might they take through digital formats and Artificial Intelligence?
Based on the work of Vladimir Propp, who reduced the structure of russian folk-tales to 31 basic functions, TIAM aims to question the limitations and implications of attempts at programming language and narrative.
Because the program is unable to deliver a finished story, rather only a crude synopsis and illustrations, users have to improvise, filling the gaps with their imagination and making up for the technology’s shortcomings.
